Shiv Jayanti 2024

Shiv Jayanti marks the birth anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the great Maratha warrior king and founder of the Maratha Empire. He was born on 19 February 1630 at the Shivneri Fort in Maharashtra.

1. Dhol-Tasha Competition:
Traditional drums played in groups to celebrate the spirit of Shivaji Maharaj.
2. Lezim or Lazim Dance Performance:
A traditional Maharashtrian folk dance performed with small musical instruments and rhythmic steps.
3. Symbolic torch or sacred flame:
The flame represents courage, pride, and the eternal light of Swarajya (self-rule).

Navratri (meaning “Nine Nights”) is one of the most vibrant and widely celebrated Hindu festivals in India and among Indian communities around the world. It honors the divine feminine energy — Goddess Durga — and symbolizes the victory of good over evil.
